[NEWS] Stella Maris Earns Renewed Joint Commission Accreditation

CLEVELAND, OH — Stella Maris, Inc., a leading provider of addiction treatment and recovery services, has once again been awarded accreditation from The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and most respected healthcare accrediting body. The renewal confirms Stella Maris’s continued compliance with all standards of care for Behavioral Health Care and Human Services — earning no findings or requirements for improvement following its most recent survey.

The Joint Commission’s accreditation recognizes organizations that demonstrate an unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and excellence in care. Following an extensive review process, Stella Maris was found to be in full compliance across key areas, including trauma and abuse screening, treatment planning, medication management, suicide risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and staff competency.

“This accreditation is more than a certification — it’s a reflection of our mission and the dedication of every staff member who makes recovery possible each day,” said Christine Robinson, LISW-S, Chief Executive Officer of Stella Maris. “We’re proud to have met every standard, but our work doesn’t stop here. We’re always looking for new and better ways to serve our clients, strengthen our programs, and expand access to quality care in our community.”

Accreditation by The Joint Commission is considered the gold standard in healthcare. It signifies that Stella Maris adheres to nationally recognized best practices, maintains a strong culture of safety, and is continuously improving the quality of its services.

Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for The Joint Commission, commended Stella Maris for its achievement, noting that the accreditation “represents a commitment to upholding the highest standards of healthcare quality and safety for patients, the workforce, and the community.”

Founded in 1948, Stella Maris provides comprehensive services including inpatient and outpatient treatment, detoxification, residential recovery housing, counseling, and peer support for individuals and families affected by substance use and mental health disorders. The organization remains committed not only to maintaining its high standards, but to continually growing, innovating, and improving the ways it supports those on the path to recovery.
