IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Nursing / Coordinator of Clinical Services
QUALIFICATIONS/CREDIENTIALS:
1) Valid Ohio Driver’s License with less than Four Points;
2) Knowledge of chemical dependency, disease concept, 12 step programs; prefer CDCA accreditation
3) Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills;
4) Computer competency;
5) Flexible work hours;
6) Willingness to work with a team of staff members to provide patient care.
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Detoxification Technician provides assistance to the nursing staff and chemical dependency counselors on the Detoxification Unit, including: ensuring security and safety of patients, staff and visitors.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Ability to assist with admission procedures, including cleaning and preparing rooms.
2. Ability to greet new patients, conducting orientation and answer basic questions regarding program.
3. Ability to co-facilitate groups and document interactions.
4. Ability to provide support to patients who are unable to sleep, agitated, and/or uncomfortable with withdrawal process.
5. Ability to observe and report significant client information to nursing and counseling staff.
6. Ability to perform security checks of the building, room checks and searches of patient belongings.
7. Ability to monitor visitors for AA/NA meetings, client activities, family program, etc.
8. Ability to assist with client discharges.
9. Ability to assist in obtaining urine specimens.
10. Ability to respond to medical and other emergencies and notify appropriate administrative staff. Document observation of any incidents that occur.
11. Ability to respond to urgent patient issues or crisis situations.
12. Ability to answer the phone and assist callers.
13. Ability to distribute patient mail.
14. Ability to work cooperatively with other staff/disciplines as part of an interdisciplinary team.
15. Completion of requirements for annual agency training compliance.
16. Ability to uphold patient rights and confidentiality regulations.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Performs other duties of the position and within the individual’s capabilities as assigned by his/her supervisor.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Residential Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Residential Technician provides guidance and support for all clients within the Stella Maris Residential Program assisting with holding clients accountable during their journey of change while striving to complete treatment. The Residential Technician is responsible for ensuring the environment is safe and stable at all times.
Ensure that the program activities are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Stella Maris
Oversee all client activities during assigned shift and provide clients with support and guidance
Uphold the “One House” model and serve as an example at all times
Attend either morning or afternoon “One House” community meetings
Oversee clients to ensure that house rules and policies are followed
Enforce residential schedule/curriculum and quiet time procedures
Search belongings and complete required paperwork and scanning of clients’ chart
Oversee assigned client chores and provide constructive feedback
Conduct random room searches and document
Monitor all approved client phone calls at Tech Station
As directed by Residential Manager, administer drug screen testing for clients
Establish therapeutic alliance with clients and conduct educational groups regarding substance abuse/dependence
Enter progress notes into computer when required
Document any client incidents and complete appropriate Incident Report Forms
Uphold clients rights and ensure client confidentiality
Monitor smoke breaks
Escort clients to meals when needed
Keep track of clients whereabouts by conducting 15-30 minutes rounds daily
Escort clients to scheduled outside activities (self-help meetings, park, etc…)
Be proactive when situations arise, coordinating with Residential Manager
Communicate with staff members, visitors and clients in a respectful and professional manner at all times
Complete all required agency annual compliance training
QUALIFICATIONS:
A CDCA or Peer Support certification is strongly preferred
Prior CPR certification is preferred, although there will be a requirement to immediately receive this certification after hire
Ability to work effectively with a diverse community
Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer competency
Knowledge of computers and basic-level typing
Demonstrated knowledge of addiction and withdrawal process, assessments, diagnosis, and treatment
